Our Mission is summed up in three words, "Relationship, Not Religion" - it's what we do. We are mindful to always be in a healthy state of relationship with God and others as opposed to a system of rules and regulations.
We do spirituality holistically: spirit, soul, mind, and body.
We are motivated by Jesus' words to "Love the Lord your God out of, and with, your whole heart (spirit) and with all your soul (your life) and with all your mind (with your faculty of thought and your moral understanding) and with all your strength (your body). This is the first and principal commandment. The second is like it and is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these." - Mark 12:30-31
These words inspire us to function according to the following four core values in order to do "Relationship" well.
Our church family has people from the communities of Claremont, Upland, La Verne, Montclair, Pomona, Ontario, San Dimas, Chino, and Rancho Cucamonga.
Our people are kind, generous, artistic, funny, smart, hardworking, outdoorsy and animal lovers.
We are diverse ethnically, socially and economically. Our kids are in band, sports, chess club and theater! We like fine art and a good joke. We value education, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Some people wear shorts and flip flops to church, some wear suits.
We respect all Christian denominations and traditions, but sometimes we make fun of Christian culture. Both Republicans and Democrats attend Granite Creek... We believe that neither party will usher in the Kingdom of God, so we avoid talking politics.
Granite Creek Community Church's vision is to see families and culture transformed by Heaven.
Jesus' number one message was that of the Kingdom of Heaven (or the Kingdom of God). When Jesus preached on Heaven, he illustrated that Heaven has its place with us here on Earth.
He physically demonstrated Heaven on Earth by performing signs and wonders, healing the sick, raising the dead, controlling nature, all "Kingdom stuff". We believe that Jesus has called us to his ministry and that miracles and all the Spiritual Gifts are for today.
Therefore, it is our prayer that we see God move in powerful ways just like he did in the Bible. We believe that an expression of heaven in the home will transform a broken family, and families that have been transformed by heaven will impact, challenge, heal and save a culture that is desperate for transformation.
God is the Creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are co-equal and are one God.
Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 1:2, 2 Corinthians 13:14
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life. He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He died and rose from the dead after three days, demonstrating His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return to Earth to reign as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make humanity aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts when they are saved to be used for the "common good." As Christians, we seek to daily live under His guidance.
The Bible is God's Word to us. Human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit wrote it. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. As God's inspired Truth, it is without error.
2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6, Proverbs 30:5
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God's creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.
Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2
Salvation is God's free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin's penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6, John 1:12, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
John 3:16, John 14:17, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:17-18, Revelation 20:15, 1 Corinthians 2:7-9
Jesus came to earth to undo the works of the Devil. Clashes with the Kingdom of God were inevitable when Jesus came preaching the Good News of the Kingdom of God. As the Good News is preached today, we can still expect Kingdom clashes. When Jesus fed the hungry, healed, drove out demons, raised the dead, he was advancing his Kingdom into the Kingdom of Darkness. We believe the Kingdom is future but is also here and now. For this reason we believe we are to pray for the sick, feed the hungry, and do the works of Jesus.
Your decision to be baptized may be one of the most important you will make as a follower of Jesus Christ. We believe that baptism is not for the purpose of joining the local church but to express your decision to follow Jesus Christ.
Three things happen in your baptism experience:
1: Baptism is an outward expression of an inward reality. People who wish to be baptized are aware that something has happened to them spiritually; that they have had a spiritual rebirth. Jesus put it like this in John 3:3 "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." The water symbolizes what has happened to our soul - a complete cleansing and washing away of the effects and the very nature of sin. God begins to paint His picture of us on a clean canvas.
2: It is a statement of identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A few years ago a young woman asked me if she could get baptized, but told me that she really wasn’t into "the Jesus-thing"! But "the Jesus-thing" is exactly what baptism is about: we acknowledge that at a specific point in space and time Jesus literally died, was buried, and rose again…conquering death once and for all, and offering real life to all who would have it. In baptism, we’re illustrating that we have died to our old, self-centered ways, are buried in the water, and are raised up as new—spiritually alive for the first time.
3: It is a public confession to the personal Lordship of Jesus Christ. When we are baptized, we're conscious of a fresh decision and desire to walk in obedience to God’s will. Life is no longer about what I want, but rather, what God wants to do with my life. It's a way to let this community of believers, and all spiritual principalities and power, know that we are under new management—God’s management.
Jesus never asked His disciples to remember His birth. But He did instruct them to remember His death and resurrection.
Communion is a simple act of obedience. It is a reminder of what Jesus did for us, a symbol of a new covenant between God and man, through Jesus Christ, and a statement of faith, taken by those who are believers. We offer communion at various times throughout the year, and we encourage our small groups to celebrate communion together.
I am a husband, father, minister, and antiques dealer. I grew up memorizing Bible verses as well as being able to discern if a piece of furniture was a reproduction or a true heirloom.
I love discovering cool, old stuff and sharing it with others. Nothing compares to inhaling the soothing, musty scent of an old leather club chair, or feeling the well-worn patina of a 16th century church candlestick. Unlike newer pieces that might cost the same and be had in trendy shops like Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware, antiques possess true character and history. When purchasing antiques, one gains great pleasure not just from the actual act of possession, but from the process of acquiring as well.
My college education, as well as other life opportunities, helped cultivate my fondness for "cool, old stuff." Equipped with a B.A. in HIstory from Westmont College, I went on to curate the Karpeles Manuscript Museum in Santa Barbara, and later served as Director of the Karpeles Manuscript Museum in Charleston, South Carolina.
Inevitably, I opened my own antique business in 1998 in Pasadena, on Colorado Boulevard with items hand-picked from Belgium and France. Preston Roberts Antiques featured French, Italian, and Spanish antiques that usually were masculine in style or religious in theme. It was always a big rush when my containers would arrive and I called my favorite clients, allowing them a sneak-peek into my treasure trove of finds.
Today, my treasure seeking revolves less around material items and more around people. As the Lead Pastor at Granite Creek Community Church in Claremont, California, I gain great satisfaction in mining for spiritual treasure among the families and individuals we serve.
Joshua and his wife, Meko, have a passion to develop leaders, encourage the arts, and to continue to create a place where people find friends and inspiration to live their best life. Meko is the College and Young Adult Pastor.
Downplay societies influence on your soul and life. Instead, focus on the impactfulness of a Christ centered Kingdom perspective.

Pastor Larry Kapchinsky has served since 1984 as founding pastor of what today is known as Granite Creek Community Church (GCCC). GCCC grew out of a 1997 church merger between Ontario Vineyard and New Life Community Church.
Vision for Ministry
Pastor Larry desires to see the lost come to know Christ in a powerful way and to grow in Him through perseverance and character. Compelled by the Great Commission and Christ's commandment to serve the widows, orphans, and those in need, pastor views the church as the greatest tool to deliver hope to the hopeless.
He also believes that regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey, God has a plan of significance and meaning for your life and your family's - an ultimate plan of God's love which offers you hope for a bright future through His Son Jesus Christ.
Biography: Formative Years
Larry received Christ at the age of 6 in Bakersfield, California. He entered the ministry as a result of witnessing God's restorative power in his parent's marriage, his father's addiction to alcohol, and their fractured family life. Larry's father, an oil field construction worker, did his best to provide for his family financially, spiritually, and emotionally, but alcoholism waged an ugly battle in their home.
While attending church one Sunday as a family, a faithful routine cultivated by Larry's mom Margaret, Larry's father had a radical conversion experience that immediately sobered him and nurtured in him a desire to have Christ as the family cornerstone.
Training, Ministry, Church Planting and More...
In 1968, Larry graduated from Southern California College, in Costa Mesa, California, (now Vanguard University), earning a B.A. in Religious Studies. Shortly thereafter, he was ordained in the Assemblies of God denomination, working as a youth pastor, associate pastor, and senior pastor. In 1980 he left the Assemblies of God and joined the staff of the newly formed New Life Christian Fellowship in Claremont, California.
In the '80s Larry aligned himself with the Vineyard Movement, under the leadership of John Wimber, for whom he worked as a counselor at the Anaheim Vineyard. In 1984, Larry started Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Ontario. Seventeen years after he left to serve in the Vineyard Movement, New Life Christian Fellowship asked Larry to return, this time as senior pastor.
In 1997, Ontario Vineyard and New Life Community Church combined to form Granite Creek Community Church. Granite Creek continues to be a vibrant, Christ-centered community church, demonstrating both quantitative and qualitative growth.
Larry is also the founder and president of KidCare International (KCI), a nongovernmental humanitarian aid organization. KCI, established in 1991, sends medical and financial aid to distressed countries, developing nations, and people negatively impacted by natural and man-made disasters.
Larry and his wife Janice of 50 years, have two adult children, Joshua and Alexandra. Pastor Larry transitioned out of the role of Lead Pastor into the role of Associate Pastor in 2014, and Pastor Joshua Kapchinsky now leads Granite Creek Community Church.
